Wake Up, Energy or Focus? Find the Right Tea for Your Morning
Wake Up, Energy or Focus? Find the Right Tea for Your Morning
A good morning tea should do more than simply contain caffeine.
It should match your taste, your routine and the kind of start you want for your day. Some mornings call for something bold and aromatic. Others feel better with fresh citrus or a smoother, fruitier cup.
At Papa Tea, three blends are especially suited to morning and daytime rituals:
Wake Up, Energy and Focus.
Each one has a different tea base, flavour profile and caffeine level. Here is how to choose the right one for you.
Wake Up: A Bold and Aromatic Start
Wake Up is our signature Earl Grey black tea.
It combines black tea with bergamot flavour, ginger, citrus peel, lavender and rose buds. The result is a rich and fragrant cup with the familiar citrus character of Earl Grey and a distinctive floral and gently spiced finish.
This is the strongest choice for people who enjoy traditional black tea but want something more expressive than an ordinary breakfast blend.
What Does Wake Up Taste Like?
Wake Up has a bold black tea base with:
- bright bergamot and citrus;
- warming ginger;
- delicate lavender;
- a soft floral finish.
The bergamot is recognisable, while the ginger and flowers give the blend extra depth and personality.
Choose Wake Up When You Want:
- a classic Earl Grey with a modern twist;
- a rich and fragrant morning tea;
- strong citrus and bergamot notes;
- a bold alternative to an everyday tea bag;
- a tea that can be enjoyed plain or with a little milk.
Tea type: Black tea
Flavour profile: Citrusy, floral, spiced and aromatic
Caffeine level: 4/5
Best time: Morning or early afternoon
Energy: A Bright Lemon Breakfast Tea
Energy is a lemon breakfast black tea with citrus peel, cornflower petals, natural citrus oil and popped amaranth.
While Wake Up is floral and bergamot-led, Energy feels brighter, cleaner and more refreshing. Its lemon character makes it a great choice for people who enjoy full-bodied black tea but prefer fresh citrus notes.
What Does Energy Taste Like?
Energy combines:
- smooth black tea;
- fresh lemon and citrus;
- a lightly aromatic finish;
- a bright and refreshing character.
It is bold enough for the morning but remains clean and easy to drink.
Choose Energy When You Want:
- a fresh lemon black tea;
- a lively morning cup;
- a citrus alternative to Earl Grey;
- a tea that tastes good hot or chilled;
- something refreshing without a heavy floral flavour.
Tea type: Black tea
Flavour profile: Lemon, citrusy, bright and smooth
Caffeine level: 4/5
Best time: Morning or early afternoon
Focus: A Smooth and Fruity Oolong
Focus is an oolong tea with goji berries, strawberry pieces and mixed berry flavours.
Oolong sits between green tea and black tea in character. It usually offers a smoother and softer experience than a bold black tea while still providing a satisfying daytime cup.
Focus is the fruitiest of the three blends. Its goji berry and mixed berry profile makes it a good choice for people who want something aromatic and refreshing without the intensity of a strong breakfast tea.
What Does Focus Taste Like?
Focus offers:
- a smooth oolong tea base;
- sweet and slightly tangy goji berry;
- strawberry notes;
- blueberry, cranberry and mixed berry flavour.
The cup is fruity and balanced rather than heavy or overly sweet.
Choose Focus When You Want:
- something smoother than black tea;
- a medium-caffeine daytime tea;
- fruity berry flavour;
- an oolong tea that is easy to enjoy;
- a tea for work, study or an afternoon pause.
Tea type: Oolong tea
Flavour profile: Berry, fruity, smooth and balanced
Caffeine level: 3/5
Best time: Morning or afternoon.
Which Tea Should You Choose?
Choose Wake Up when you love traditional Earl Grey and want a bold, aromatic cup with bergamot, ginger and floral notes.
Choose Energy when you prefer clean lemon flavour and a bright black tea that feels fresh and refreshing.
Choose Focus when you want a softer oolong tea with juicy berry notes and a slightly lower caffeine level.
There is no single best morning tea. The right choice depends on whether you prefer something bold, citrusy or fruity.
Can You Drink Them with Milk?
Wake Up works well both plain and with a small amount of milk. Milk softens the black tea and bergamot while preserving its aromatic character.
Energy is usually best enjoyed without milk so that its lemon and citrus notes remain bright and clear.
Focus is also best served without milk, allowing the oolong and mixed berry flavours to come through naturally.
Can You Make Them as Iced Tea?
All three blends can be served chilled.
For a refreshing iced tea:
- Brew the tea slightly stronger than usual.
- Allow it to cool.
- Pour it over ice.
- Add a slice of lemon, orange or fresh berries.
Energy is especially refreshing with lemon, while Focus pairs beautifully with fresh strawberries or mixed berries.
